Woman Drowned Her Dog & Dumped Him in Trash Before Boarding Airplane. Now the Public Wants Justice.
In a heartbreaking and senseless act of cruelty, a Louisiana woman drowned her miniature schnauzer, Tywinn, in an Orlando International Airport bathroom after being told the dog couldn’t board a plane due to missing paperwork.
Then she left his body in a trash can—and boarded her international flight.
According to police, the 9-year-old dog was found in December by a janitor, stuffed in a trash bag inside a bathroom stall. The janitor had seen the woman earlier cleaning up water and dog food from the floor, but was called away for another emergency. When she returned 20 minutes later, Tywinn was dead—discarded alongside a companion vest, collar, rabies tag, travel bag, and a dog tag engraved with the woman’s name and phone number.

Airport security footage shows the woman speaking to a LATAM Airlines agent for about 15 minutes with Tywinn in her arms, then walking into the bathroom with the dog. She emerged alone less than 20 minutes later. Moments after, she passed through security and boarded her Colombia-bound flight.
Tywinn never even had a chance.
An investigation confirmed the woman was denied boarding because she didn’t have the required veterinary documents for international travel. According to USDA regulations, dogs flying to Colombia must have a veterinarian-issued health certificate and proof of rabies vaccination.
A necropsy confirmed the worst: Tywinn had been drowned.
Authorities tracked the woman’s travel to Colombia and later Ecuador. She was eventually arrested in Lake County, Florida, on a felony charge of aggravated animal cruelty. She has since been released on $5,000 bail.
This wasn’t a tragic mistake—it was intentional. It was cruel. And it was entirely preventable.
This is more than just a case of animal cruelty. It’s a wake-up call. People who inflict this kind of violence on vulnerable animals should not be allowed to own pets again—ever. And they need psychological intervention before that cruelty escalates.
Tywinn’s death cannot be undone. But together, we can make sure his life meant something—and that no other dog suffers like he did.
