Mama Dog’s Selfless Actions Led Rescuers Straight to Her Hidden Puppies
As the owner of a dog rescue that brings dogs across the continent to find forever homes, Laura Myatt always has her hands full. Even so, she never hesitates to stop what she’s doing to help an animal in need. That’s why she was both relieved and astounded when a brave mama dog ran straight to her to get help in the middle of a Romanian street. It’s like she knew Laura was there to save her and her puppies! (Watch video below)
Relieved to Be Rescued
On June 5, Laura caught the heartwarming interaction on camera while helping the little family get ready for transport to Sadie’s Dog Rescue. She shared the video on the rescue’s public Facebook group the following day, and dog adoption advocates were quick to express sympathy, love, and support for the brave mama and babies. Someone who saw the video even stepped up as a financial sponsor for the mama dog, whom she lovingly named Orla.
Although this entire spontaneous streetside rescue is as sweet as can be, it’s what Orla did when Laura began to leave that truly tugs on the heartstrings. At first, Laura couldn’t understand why she was walking away!
No Pup Left Behind
How sweet! This devoted mama made sure none of her babies were left behind when they were swept away to Sadie’s Dog Rescue. She knew exactly where her shiest pup was hiding, and that little one never left her mind even while she was being petted by Laura. There was no way she was leaving without all of her babies! Orla’s cleverness is proof of the power of a mother’s intuition, which she wholeheartedly demonstrated by leading all three of her puppies to the perfect person. It’s almost as if this dog could tell the future!
Soon after Laura’s precious Facebook updates, more sponsors (and puppy names) began rolling in. The only boy of the litter–the mostly brown-colored puppy–is now called Archie, and his sisters have been named Lexa, after her sponsor’s beloved late dog, and Anwen, which is Welsh for ‘very beautiful.’ Though the rescue hasn’t provided any new updates about the precious family (they are rather busy rescuing and transporting dogs from Bacau, Romania), it’s safe to say they are resting a lot more comfortably than they were just a few days ago.
