Crazy Drama Ensues After Women Rescue Injured Golden Retriever Who Had Just Given Birth
It’s always heartwarming to see just how many animal advocates would pull over to help a dog in need. You never know when you’ll get the chance to prove yourself (and save a life), just like two generous sisters did when they drove past a Golden Retriever in late May. Without hesitation, they stopped to see if the pup needed help, and sure enough, the young dog was more than grateful for the rescue.
Now that she’s had time to recover from her previous life, Greeter has started to blossom in her new forever home. She’s now living with her rescuer, Leni, and learning what it means to be a cherished pet. On June 18, Leni shared the story of Greeter’s rescue, and needless to say, everyone is cheering for both Leni and Greeter!

This young Golden Retriever is as friendly and kindhearted as can be, which isn’t unusual for her breed. She accepted help easily and without fuss, but once the sisters got a closer look, they could see just what terrible shape she was in. It took several vet visits, lots of nutritious food, and plenty of rest before she felt like herself again. But there’s no doubt in anyone’s heart that the effort was well worth it.
This young dog, who was practically a puppy herself, was found to be a new mom (no puppies to be found) and a gun violence victim. She had to have a BB gun pellet removed after it began to cause an infection, but she seems to have survived the ordeal with no major health concerns.
Finding a Missing Dog
Greeter’s story got more complicated when someone saw Leni’s video and reached out regarding a DNA test. She believed this found dog could be her family’s Golden Retriever, who had gone missing the year before. However, Leni felt the details didn’t match up. Even so, she set up vet appointments for Greeter and for this dog owner, who still had the parents of the missing dog. In the meantime, this person posted on social media that Leni had their dog and wouldn’t return her, causing a wave of misinformation to spread online.
So, what were the results of the DNA test?
This stranger’s dogs were not this pup’s parents. Sure enough, the rescue dog’s actual previous owners were located, thanks to the rabies vaccination tag on her collar, but they relinquished her care to Leni as soon as they heard the story.
Even though Leni received a lot of misguided hate mail from people who wrongfully assumed she took someone’s dog, she’s not letting the haters stop her. She re-uploaded this video to tell the entire story of Greeter’s rescue, and it’s no surprise that dog lovers and rescuers alike are feeling inspired. When someone like Leni knows the right thing to do for an animal, nothing can get in their way!
