Stunt Dogs WOW Audiences Across the US with Daring Tricks & They’re All Rescue Dogs! “
When Keri Caraher and Ethan Wilhelm founded The Canine Stars stunt dog show in 2012, they hoped to use rescue dogs’ talent and trainability to encourage audience members to adopt their next pet. Over a decade later, their mission is stronger than ever! Not only have they coordinated stunt dog shows across the United States, but they’ve also rescued hundreds of dogs (and assisted in hundreds of other rescues) in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, The Netherlands, and South Korea.
When I heard that The Canine Stars would be performing at the Alameda County Fair, I bought a ticket immediately. I braved the blazing California sun to watch these rescue dogs and dedicated trainers do their thing, and the show did not disappoint. The best part, by far, was knowing that each of the excited athletes had come from rescues and shelters across the globe.
@wellwellgabrielle The Alameda County Fair has gone to the dogs… literally! The Canine Stars Stunt Dog Show is a new addition to the fair this summer, but I have a feeling they’ll be back again and again. Just look at these talented dogs!! The Canine Stars were on America’s Got Talent a few years ago, and they made it all the way to the quarterfinals. But do you want to know the best part? They’re all rescue dogs! During the show, the team talked about how when they rescue a dog, it’s for life, whether or not they can perform a single trick. The dogs looked very happy and seemed genuinely excited to perform their tricks. It was such a treat to watch! @Canine Stars ⭐ Stunt Dog Show @Alameda County Fair #dogs #rescuedogs #dogtricks #dockdiving #dogtok #dogtraining #doglife ♬ Dog Days Are Over – Florence + The Machine
Just look at them go! With my front-row seats, I could see just how excited these dogs were to perform their favorite tricks. My favorite detail was witnessing the dogs’ joy, from Sumo, the Pit Bull, barking before the dock diving event to Chewbarka’s happy trotting around the ring. After all, dogs are often at their happiest when given a satisfying task to accomplish.
Each pup was only ‘on stage’ for a few minutes at a time, and potty breaks were treated with as much politeness as possible, so these athletes still get to be dogs at the end of the day. They are all owned by Canine Stars trainers and family, so they’re always in good hands, too. But don’t be fooled: when it’s time to perform, these dogs are top-tier acrobats. They were even on America’s Got Talent in 2021!
LOL! From the trainers’ creativity to their connection with the dogs they raise and train, it’s no wonder why The Canine Stars shine so brightly. They’re the perfect proof that rescue dogs can do anything! With a calendar full of events across the US and Canada, you can easily take a look at their calendar to see if they’re coming to a city near you!
