12-Week-Old Puppy Brutally Beaten in West Virginia—Petition Calls for Lifetime Ban
In a deeply disturbing case out of Monongalia County, West Virginia, a 12-week-old puppy was left fighting for its life after what authorities describe as intentional torture.
According to court records, the puppy suffered catastrophic injuries—including three broken ribs, a fractured rear leg, a bruised spine, a collapsed lung, and internal bleeding—after allegedly being beaten by 35-year-old Jeremy Michael Ganocy of Morgantown. Investigators say the attack was triggered by the puppy having an accident inside the home.
A Puppy Left Critically Injured

Law enforcement responded to a call on December 12 and found the young dog severely injured. The puppy was rushed to Cheat Lake Animal Hospital, where veterinarians confirmed the extent of the trauma.
In addition to broken bones and internal injuries, the puppy suffered eye hemorrhaging and a nosebleed. Reports indicate the dog may require amputation of its injured leg and faces a long, painful road to recovery.
This was not a moment of frustration—it was a sustained act of violence against an animal that had barely begun its life.

Charges Filed—But Advocates Say More Is Needed
Ganocy has been charged with animal cruelty and is currently being held on a $100,000 bond. Court documents state the abuse was carried out “for the primary purpose of inflicting pain.”

While the charge is significant, advocates argue that punishment alone is not enough. Cases involving extreme violence raise serious concerns about future risk—to both animals and people.

Why This Case Matters
A 12-week-old puppy is still learning the basics of life—where to go to the bathroom, how to trust, how to feel safe. Instead, this puppy was met with violence so severe it nearly cost its life.
This case is not just about one dog. It’s about preventing future harm.
