Petsitter Accused of Beating Dog to Death While Owners Were Away — Petition Demands Ban
A Missouri family trusted a petsitter to care for their two beloved dogs while they were away. Instead, they came home to unimaginable heartbreak.

According to authorities in St. Charles County, the incident occurred over Thanksgiving weekend in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri. Rosie and her sister Violet had been left in the care of a 21-year-old petsitter hired through a neighborhood platform. At some point, Rosie briefly escaped—but what happened next was captured on video and has since shocked investigators.
Video Evidence Reveals Violent Abuse
Prosecutors say the footage shows the situation escalating quickly after the dog was retrieved.
Court records describe Rosie “gasping and choking” while being handled. Investigators allege the petsitter struck the small dog multiple times and slammed her against the floor repeatedly. Audio from the video reportedly includes the dog crying out in pain as the incident unfolded.
Authorities also reported finding blood at the scene.
Rosie was still alive after the attack but was visibly injured. A veterinary examination later confirmed internal bleeding in her abdomen. She died shortly after.
