Owner Wants To Euthanize Bulldog For Being Obese, What Happens Next Saves Her Life
It’s heartbreaking when a dog can’t run or enjoy life because they are hindered by excessive weight. Obesity in dogs is a serious issue that can lead to various medical problems eventually shortening their lifespan.
Such is the story of Teddy Crumpleton, an 3 year old Bulldog who weighs 82lbs. Apart from being obese, the dog has really ben through a lot. Firstly, his owner tried to convince the vet to euthanize him Thankfully though, the vet refused and contacted Roadogs Rescue, a Southern California rescue. He is struggling with several health conditions, but fighting every day to live with the help of the rescue.

Fighting Against Odds
The rescue organization, Roadogs Rescue, posted the TikTok video describing Teddy’s situation to draw attention on letting dogs, especially bulldogs, become obese just to make them look cute.
What’s even more worrying is that firstly, some pet parents do not provide their dogs the basic care they need, which includes good nutrition and regular exercise. Then, when the dog develops health conditions (and expensive vet bills), they decide to abandon them.
In Teddy’s case, the young dog suffered a huge loss when his dog mom passed away. To aggravate his plight, his dad decided to get rid of him. But instead of surrendering him to a shelter, he took his pet to the vet to get him euthanized.
Teddy was at the death’s door, when his vet gave him another chance of living. More than that, the vet guided the sweet dog towards a great rescue organization helping dogs with medical problems, seniors, and special needs puppies. This gave Teddy not only a chance to live but also to turn his life around through the weight loss efforts at the rescue.
When Teddy arrived at the rescue, they found out that he couldn’t breathe properly, a condition caused by his obesity. In order to treat this issue, the dog had to undergo palate surgery, and it cost around $4200. The Bulldog is now able to breathe, but his weight poses problems in his movements as well, putting pressure on his elbows and hips.
