URGENT! This episode took place at The Maui Humane Society. As you probably saw on the news, the island is on fire, people have died, historical landmarks and trees have been burned to the ground, and pets are being injured and displaced.

1. Become an SOS Foster – anyone with safe space can come to the shelter and foster an animal to make space for animals in refuge
2. Donate – Pet food, pop-up kennels, and litter. Those off island can donate directly via our Amazon Wishlist and monetary donations will be crucial to cover the costs of lifesaving medical surgeries and procedures
3. Join the Maui Fires Pets Help Group that will connect those that can help with those in need, without utilizing shelter resources

Meet KĀPILI
Before arriving at the shelter, KĀPILI was left in a truck by a houseless person who camped out of cars. Tragically, the circumstances in which she was left were far from ideal. The truck offered little protection from the scorching heat, and she was neglected without the care and attention every dog deserves. Thankfully, an Animal Control Officer (ACO) intervened, recognizing the urgency of the situation, and took KĀPILI into their care.
Despite her unfortunate past, KĀPILI remained an incredibly loving and trusting dog. Her resilient spirit and affectionate nature shone through even in the face of adversity. When I spent time with her at the shelter, I was deeply moved by the outpouring of love she displayed despite her difficult past.
It didn’t take long for her to find a loving forever home. In just two days, a compassionate family decided to adopt KĀPILI, proving that love knows no boundaries and that every dog deserves a second chance.
The adoption process went smoothly, and during the meet and greet, it was evident that KĀPILI and her new family were a perfect match. Her loving personality instantly won their hearts, and they knew they had found a loyal and devoted companion.

Meet Charlie, the charming 3-year-old pittie mix on a quest to find his forever home. When he arrived at the shelter, Charlie was battling mange, which was particularly noticeable on his white fur. The tropical and sunny environment made him more susceptible to sunburns, adding to his struggles.
