After a Decade in Shelter, Rescuers Plead to Find Senior Boxer Dog a True Home

Dog rescuers, rescue advocates, and animal lovers across the globe are always saddened to see shelter dogs living out their lives from behind the bars of a kennel, but it’s almost impossible to imagine what a dog’s life might be like if they never have a home at all. Sadly, that’s likely the case for a precious senior Boxer mix named Myna, who’s still waiting patiently at the ripe ol’ age of ten years old.

Myna: After a Decade in Shelter, Rescuers Plead to Find Senior Boxer Dog a True Home

While she may be a senior, Myna’s story is far from over. Her friends at Brooklyn-based Twenty Paws Rescue have nothing but positive things to say about this happy, active dog, but they are still at a loss as to why this sweetheart hasn’t found her perfect home. She’s already come such a long way, and she deserves a comfy spot on the couch where she can spend her golden years.

Ten Years With Nowhere to Call Home

While much of Myna’s history remains a mystery, her rescuers do know that she arrived at an NYC city shelter as a stray before Twenty Paws pulled her for rescue back in 2020. No one knows how long she had been at that shelter or whether she’d been in any kind of home in the past. What they did know is that this Boxer mix is playful, loving, and ready to go with the flow. While she requires a slower introduction with new canine friends, her friendliness toward people has made her a favorite among rescue volunteers wherever she goes.

At the time she was rescued by Twenty Paws, she was about six years old and was excited to meet her new foster owner. Sadly, though, this foster arrangement fell through. With nowhere left to go, Myna has been in boarding ever since!

Finding a Match for This Senior Sweetheart

Now that she’s spent several years patiently waiting in both the city shelter and rescue boarding, it’s time that she finds a home of her very own. Despite her age, her rescuers notice that she has plenty of spunk to spare, so she won’t be your typical senior rescue dog. In fact, she will fit best in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise and playtime. When you’re done playing, though, she’ll be ready to hop on the couch for a cuddle, too!

This well-rounded gal will need to either be the only dog in the home or have a fur sibling who can be calm, confident, and easygoing. Introductions should go slow! There’s no doubt that Myna loves to be the center of attention, and her rescue friends know she would thrive like never before when given the time to adjust to a new home.
