Abandoned Poodle With Dreadlocks & Severe Mats Gets Life Changing Hair Cut. Incredible Transformation
Just look at this dog! It’s hard to imagine he’s ever had a bath in his life, which is incredibly frustrating. He’s in such a state that it breaks my heart, but we’re here to change that. As I got up close, I couldn’t help but notice his matted fur and the discomfort it must cause him. It’s so important to remember that shelters don’t always have the resources to groom every dog immediately. With thousands of animals passing through, having a dedicated groomer for each one is nearly impossible.
A Dog With No Name
This little guy, who doesn’t even have a name yet, looks like he might be a Maltese Poodle mix or a Bichon Frise. What do you all think? His kennel card says he’s about 10 months old, and it’s pretty clear he’s never been groomed. His fur is so matted and painful that it’s going to be quite a job to get him cleaned up. We’re talking about a four-hour grooming session, at the very least.
He’s skittish and in pain, but we’re going to do everything we can to help him. If you’re watching this and feeling the same frustration I do, remember, there are ways you can help. One of the best things you can do is adopt. Get this little guy into a loving home where he can get the care he desperately needs.
We need name suggestions! What do you think we should call him? Some of you suggested Marley, which is a cute name and seems to fit him well. Let’s go with that for now. Marley it is!
He Was Abandoned
Marley’s story is a bit of a mystery. He came in through the night drop, which is a safe area where good Samaritans can leave animals they find. It looks like Marley was found in a residential neighborhood, and thankfully, the finder left their information. This tells us that Marley was likely abandoned, which is heartbreaking. But the good news is, he’s now in a safe place, and we can start working towards finding him a forever home.
Incredible Transformation
Alright, Marley, it’s time to get you cleaned up and feeling better. Mel, the shelter groomer at Animal Friends of the Valleys, worked her magic on Marley. He started off looking completely dreadlocked, but by the time the very long grooming session was over, he literally looked like a different dog.
It was incredible to watch the transformation unfold. Mel spent hours carefully cutting away the matted fur, and with each snip, Marley seemed to lighten up, almost as if the weight of the world was being lifted off his little body. By the end of the session, Marley’s true self was revealed—a beautiful poodle with long, elegant legs and a spring in his step that we hadn’t seen before.
Seeing Marley so happy and free of those heavy dreadlocks was a sight to behold. His eyes sparkled with joy, and he couldn’t stop wagging his tail. It was as if he knew he had been given a second chance at life, and he was ready to embrace it with all the love he had to offer.
He Found A Forever Home
But the good news doesn’t stop there. Marley found his forever home! A wonderful family saw his story, fell in love with his resilient spirit, and decided to make him a part of their family. It’s moments like these that make all the hard work worth it. Marley went from being neglected and in pain to being groomed, loved, and adopted—all thanks to the incredible support from people like you.
This is why we do what we do. Every dog deserves a chance to live a happy, healthy life, and with your continued support, we can make that happen for so many more. So, whether you’re adopting, donating, or simply sharing these stories, you’re making a huge difference.
