Unwanted By Her Previous Family, This Heartbroken Dog Still Never Stops Wagging Her Tail
Remi thought she had finally found her forever home. After years of being passed from one owner to another, the six-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier believed her days of uncertainty were behind her. She had a family now, a place where she belonged.

She’s been passed from owner to owner, until she ended up at our shelter because her current family had no time for her 😔 When she arrived we discovered masses on her body, so our clinic performed surgery to remove them from her back and mouth ❤️🩹 Thankfully they appear to be benign, but she will need to be monitored for future masses 🙏 Remi is trying to heal, but she is in a stressful shelter and just wants the comfort of a home again 🥺 She is a relaxed girl that likes to sit and lay around the house, and lay in sun. But one day, they put her in the car—not for a trip to the park or an adventure, but for a return to the shelter. Their reason? They were too busy to care for her.
Now waiting at the Humane Society of Broward County, Remi is back in the cycle she desperately wanted to escape. Before arriving at the shelter, she had been treated like something temporary, shuffled between homes as if she were a trial run. Each time, she had hoped it would be different. Each time, she was let down.
Still, she waits—hoping for a family that won’t give up on her.
Keeping Hope Alive
When Remi arrived at the shelter, she was not only suffering from a broken heart but also non-cancerous masses on her mouth and back. Thankfully, the masses were removed through surgery and Remi is now healthier than ever. Her heartache still feels fresh, though.
Sweet Remi just doesn’t understand why she’s back at the kennel yet she did everything to show her previous family that she was a good girl. But amid all the confusion and heartache, one thing about her has been constant: her wagging tail.
Remi is a good example of a dog who still chooses to see the good in people even though those she loved the most turned their backs on her. Her ever-wagging tail is evidence that something deep inside her still believes there’s someone out there for her. Someone who will cherish her for good and show her nothing short of true love. We believe so, too.
Remi’s Counting on You for a Forever Home
It’s tough being the pup who’s been made to feel unwanted over and over again, so it’s only fair if Remi finds a loving family that will not give up on her, ever. At this point, she’s not asking for much — just someone who won’t change their mind about her when things seem tough.
Remi’s trying so hard to put her emotional scars behind her, but the stressful shelter environment isn’t making this easy. For this reason, she’ll be beyond grateful if she doesn’t spend another night at the shelter. Remi is an easy-going girl who loves nothing more than to chill next to her humans. She’s a huge fan of Kong toys and rope toys and has, as anyone in the shelter will tell you, an insatiable appetite for chicken treats.
