Stranded in the Cold for 12 Hours—This Dog’s Heartbreaking Plea for Help Was Finally Answered
Imagine being trapped outside in the freezing cold for 12 hours with no warmth or shelter. That was the heartbreaking reality for a dog in Detroit, Michigan, who curled up on a strange home’s porch, desperate for help. Fortunately, the homeowner reached out to Rebel Dogs Detroit asking for help for the poor dog.

What they saw broke their hearts when the rescue team reached the house at Glynn Ct & Rosa Parks Blvd. The dog was freezing, shivering badly, crying for help, and was extremely emaciated.
Grateful Kisses
Despite enduring unimaginable hardship, the dog’s gratitude was immediate. The moment rescuers arrived, she showered them with kisses, overjoyed to be saved. Ignoring the biting cold and her frail condition, she focused only on the relief of finally being safe.

The freezing dog was so weak she couldn’t even walk to the rescue team’s care and instead, she had to be carried. Once she reached inside the vehicle, she eagerly accepted snacks while whimpering—grateful to finally have the safety and warmth she craved for so long.
Exhausted and in poor condition, the dog had no collar, tag, or microchip, leaving her past a mystery. With no way to trace an owner, rescuers gave her a new name—Sugar, a perfect fit for such a sweet and loving soul.
Sugar Needs A Forever Home
After her successful rescue, Rebel Dogs shared Sugar’s story on social media, hoping to find her a foster home. Fortunately, Leah Carroll stepped forward, welcoming Sugar into her care.
Leah later shared an update on Facebook, revealing that Sugar was finally able to decompress in her new home. Now, she’s resting, recovering, and showering her humans with love. All she needs is a forever home where she can be the perfect companion she was meant to be.

“She loves humans,” Leah wrote. “She was perfect at the groomer, curious but not aggressive with other dogs. She knows how to sit, is crate and potty-trained (with a few accidents due to stress), and walks well on a leash. She’s a little love bug looking for someone to snuggle forever!”
If this sweet girl sounds like the perfect companion for you, you can submit an adoption application to Rebel Dogs Detroit or reach out to the rescue to meet her. You can also send out a foster application or donate toward her care.
“As rescuers, we see so many heartbreaking cases, but dogs like Sugar remind us why we do this. After everything she’s endured, she still has so much love to give. She deserves a home where she’ll never have to suffer again.” — Rocky Kanaka, Pet Rescue Advocate
