Luna’s journey into our lives began under unfortunate circumstances. She was found in front of a Walmart, her fur matted, ears troubled, and clearly in distress. “She belonged to somebody before, but they didn’t even bother coming to the shelter to pick her up after she was found,” I learned, a fact that struck a chord with all of us. Her legs were tangled in mats, and her tiny ears were lost in knots. It was obvious Luna hadn’t been groomed for a long while, if ever.

The first step in Luna’s transformation was gaining her trust. Mel, our dedicated groomer, knew the challenge ahead. Luna was scared, unfamiliar with the kindness of strangers. “It’s okay. It’s okay. Good grab. Good grab,” Mel soothed as she worked to untangle the painful knots at the ends of Luna’s ears. The process was meticulous, requiring patience and a gentle touch. “I just wish I could speak dog, so I could tell Luna it’s okay. We’re here to help,” Mel mused. Actions, however, spoke louder than words, and we were determined to show Luna the care she deserved.

Despite her initial fear, the warm water and gentle care started to melt Luna’s defenses. “You can see how much lighter she’s starting to feel here,” I observed as Luna even wagged her tail a bit.
