Sick Mama Dog Reaches Breaking Point, Urgently Needs Foster Home
Nothing matters more to a mother dog than bonding with her young ones and ensuring they’re warm, safe, and well-fed. And for this to happen, the mother has to be in a good space mentally, emotionally, and physically. (watch video below)
Sadly, some dogs have a rough start to motherhood and, without immediate relief from their woes, may not have a chance to be the best possible mother to their newborns. One such case is a sick mama dog who was brought to the Advocate 4 Paws shelter about four weeks ago along with her puppies, who are now four weeks old. Her persistent coughing — which prompted the shelter to separate her from other dogs to prevent further infections — paints a clear picture of the worrying state of her health.
Besides treatment, finding a foster home that’s willing to provide her with the necessary care and support she needs to make a full recovery will do wonders for her overall well-being.

While she's shown some resource guarding around food with her pups (not with humans), we need an experienced foster who can work through this, ideally in a home with no other pets or where she can be kept separate from them. Please send us a message if you can help-we need to get her out ASAP. We're also collecting pledges to cover her medical care and supplies for both her and the pups. Momma arrived at the shelter nearly 4 weeks ago with newborn pups. Despite our efforts, we haven't found a foster and now Momma's health is declining.
