Senior Dog in Shelter for Over 400 Days Needs Help Finding a Home

Large dogs who are without homes often have a hard time finding families who have the space, resources, and time necessary to provide them with the care and affection they need. This is particularly difficult for dogs who must be the only pets, and it is especially challenging for senior dogs.

Past unpleasant experiences can shape a dog’s future and prevent them from receiving the life they deserve. Although these rescued dogs cannot communicate their former encounters to us, we can be certain that they have been through something hard. We must see all they have to offer and look beyond any limitations they may have.

An Old Dog Comes Back to Life

Volunteers at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter found this senior male dog emaciated and in terrible condition when he arrived. Fortunately, volunteers recognized his potential and worked to restore his health. Despite his difficult past, he remains a playful and friendly dog who loves one-way fetch.

The Shelter’s Longest Resident

A fan club of volunteers supporting him during his time at the shelter has improved Scout’s long wait for his forever family. A loving volunteer has made it her mission to bring him home on Fridays for a taste of home life. These trips have undoubtedly helped him remember hope exists beyond the shelter walls.

Scout’s Adoption Angels

This very lovable dog has become quite popular. He even has an adoption angel who will cover all the adoption costs and fees for the person who gives him a loving home. A local training facility has also generously agreed to cover the cost of his training. This will allow him to form a strong bond with his new owner and gain the essential skills for success.

Are You the Perfect Home for Scout?

This big goofball isn’t aware of his large size, so it may be best for him to be the only child (4-legged or human) in a loving home. However, for the lucky individual(s) who makes him part of their family, he will undoubtedly bring them an unlimited amount of happiness for the rest of his days. His affectionate and energetic nature makes him an ideal companion for anyone looking to go on walks and have a snuggle buddy for movie night.
