In a world where physical appearance often dictates first impressions, Brodie, a dog with a distinctive face, is challenging perceptions and winning hearts worldwide.
When Amanda first stumbled upon Brodie’s photo on the Kennel’s Facebook page, she was moved to tears. “There’s just something about his face,” she recalls, unable to pinpoint exactly what drew her in. But it wasn’t just Amanda who was captivated. Her partner, Brad, initially hesitant about adopting a dog, was won over the moment he met Brodie. “I was the one who caved and said, ‘we gotta keep Brodie,'” he admits with a chuckle.
Upon bringing Brodie home, Amanda and Brad quickly discovered his remarkable intelligence. Not only could he master a new trick in a mere 10 minutes, but he also showcased his smarts in everyday activities. From leading himself outside to attending to his business without any assistance to surprising his owners with his problem-solving skills, Brodie was proving that there was much more to him than met the eye.

However, Brodie’s unique appearance wasn’t a birth trait. At just 13 days old, a bite from his young, stray mother resulted in his distinct facial features. The incident left him with a jaw that could only open about an inch and a half and partial blindness in one eye. Yet, these challenges haven’t dampened Brodie’s spirit.
In fact, Brodie’s resilience and charm have earned him a massive following on Instagram, where his account, @bestboybrodie, has garnered attention from fans worldwide. Amanda recalls the overwhelming response to Brodie’s adoption announcement on the kennel’s page. “They hoped we’d start an Instagram to follow his life,” she says. What began as a local following soon exploded into international fame, much to Amanda’s astonishment.

But with fame comes scrutiny. Some questioned Brodie’s quality of life given his physical challenges. Amanda responds with a poignant comparison, “Would you say that to a human with a disability? They’re worthy of being alive and having a good life, just like anyone.” For Brodie, his differences are unnoticed. He remains the “happiest dog” Amanda has ever met, bringing joy to countless followers who find solace in his uplifting posts.
