In his journey, there are three specific breeds of dogs that he would never, under any circumstance, purchase: German Shepherds, Cane Corso, and Huskies.
His Reasoning Isn’t What You Might Expect

That being said these three breeds are not for the faint of heart.
1. German Shepherds
German Shepherds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility. Historically used for herding, they have since become invaluable members of police units, search and rescue teams, and households. Their striking appearance and unwavering loyalty make them a favorite among families. However, their popularity is a double-edged sword. With so many being bred and sold, countless German Shepherds find themselves without homes, crowding shelters and waiting for a loving family.
2. Cane Corso
The Cane Corso, an Italian breed known for its protective nature and commanding presence, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Their muscular build and deep-set eyes can be intimidating, but beneath the surface, they are gentle giants, fiercely loyal to their families. Unfortunately, their size and strength, coupled with misinformed owners who don’t understand their needs, have led to many of these majestic animals being abandoned or surrendered to shelters.
3. Huskies
With their wolf-like appearance and mesmerizing blue eyes, Huskies are undeniably captivating. Originally bred for their endurance to haul light loads over long distances in cold climates, they are energetic and playful. However, they are escape artists coupled with their high energy levels and tendency to be vocal means they aren’t suited for everyone. As a result, many Huskies are bought impulsively and later given up when owners can’t meet their needs.
Rocky’s message is simple yet powerful: “Shelters across the USA are jam-packed with these breeds. So why buy when you can adopt?” The reality is that many of these breeds, due to their popularity and the misconceptions surrounding them, are among the most abandoned and surrendered in shelters.
Rocky urges potential dog owners to consider adopting from a shelter. Not only would you be giving a deserving dog a second chance at life, but you’d also be taking a stand against the overbreeding of popular breeds.
