Hit by a Car & Abandoned, This Brave French Bulldog Fought for a Forever Home
When a 3-year-old French Bulldog called Vito arrived at the shelter, his world had been turned upside down. Hit by a car and left with devastating injuries, one of his back legs was so badly damaged it had to be amputated. Despite his traumatic ordeal, Vito’s fight wasn’t over. (Watch video below)
Needing urgent medical care and a chance at recovery, Vito found hope through Wags and Walks, a Los Angeles-based rescue that stepped in to help this brave little Frenchie on his journey to healing.
@wagsandwalksla This is Vito. A few weeks ago, this sweet 2-year-old Frenchie was hit by a car and taken to the shelter. Sadly his leg was severely damaged and was beyond repair, and needed to be amputated immediately. He had multiple puncture wounds on his paw pads and legs and a road rash on his stomach. Due to the severity of his wounds and medical needs, he urgently needed a rescue to take him in. We knew we had to help. Vito underwent amputation prior to joining the Wags program, but his incisions became severely infected shortly after and required additional veterinary care. This boy is incredibly sweet and is now receiving the vetting he needs to heal through Wags & Walks. Our team has been flushing his incisions daily, reapplying warm compresses and ointments, performing foot soaks, and replacing his bandages. With the help of our staff and volunteers, we’ll make sure he knows nothing but love and gets the best care. This Giving Tuesday, we need your help raising funds to save more pups like Vito. Further Complications
Unfortunately, Vito’s struggles didn’t end after arriving at the rescue. His leg amputation incisions developed a severe infection, adding to his misery. Due to this, the dog required additional medical care.
The rescue staff have been caring for Vito round the clock — flushing his incisions, reapplying warm compresses and ointments, and replacing bandages daily.
Sharing a video on TikTok, the rescue informs the netizens that Vito is doing much better and receiving the required treatment. With the rescue’s dedicated efforts, the sweet dog who loves nothing more than belly rubs will hopefully bounce back soon.
On the path to recovery, Vito will be available for adoption once he is healthy. With his fighting spirit and the love and care he’s receiving Vito’s next chapter will undoubtedly be filled with the happiness and second chances he truly deserves.
