Chained Up Golden Retriever Finally Experiences True Love – For Her Final 6 Glorious Months

When Niall Harbison — founder of one of Thailand’s largest animal charities, Happy Doggo — found an emaciated stray dog chained up on the street nearly a year ago, he never thought this particular pup would have a lasting impact on his life. (watch video below)

The Golden Retriever, whom he named Tina, was nothing but skin and bones. Tina lay chained to her own dirt without food and water, looking so severely malnourished, so much so that Harbison initially couldn’t determine which breed she was.

Besides being dangerously underweight, Tina seemed to suffer from a horrible skin condition, as the fur on her body was all but nonexistent. Almost throughout her life, she was used as a breeding machine, and nobody saw her value beyond making her produce puppies for selfish gain. The stress of repeated breeding, coupled with her extreme malnourishment and struggle to survive on the streets, took a mighty toll on her.

Thankfully, her encounter with Harbison would kick-start her incredible transformation journey, which was documented on TikTok by the account @happydoggoniall. Unsurprisingly, the clip has moved over 200,000 viewers to tears.

Tina’s Stomach “Nearly Bursts” Days After Being Rescued

Deeply touched by Tina’s misery and pitiful appearance, Harbison didn’t hesitate to intervene, determined to change this stray pup’s life forever. After a few days of caring for her, Tina had a near-death experience as her stomach became swollen after eating and almost burst.

She was rushed to an emergency vet, where she underwent procedures to remove the trapped gas in her stomach. While at the vet, Tina received specialized care and the nourishment she needed to get back on her feet. Fortunately, she recovered and was back home with Harbison.

“Tina was the most unbelievable dog there ever was” 🥰 Some of you may have heard us talking about building “Tina’s Hospital” and wondered what was so special about this one dog? If you were around at the time, you’ll know just how much she touched so many souls. Despite spending most of her life on a chain, she was the happiest most positive girl in the world and Niall describes her as his soulmate 🥺 You can hear it in his voice in this video, she was 1 in a million. When Tina died, we promised her that we’d help as many dogs like her as possible. She was a lot of the inspiration behind launching Happy Doggo as a charity and expanding our mission so we thought we’d introduce her properly. Sorry if this one makes you cry…😢❤️ #streetdogs #rescuedog #dog #goldenretriever #dogsoftt #dogsoftiktok

Tina Lives Her Best Life With Harbison By Her Side

Harbison was blown away by Tina’s zeal for life and how she rocked a million-dollar smile despite all she had been through. Her personality shone with every passing day, and she settled in quickly, as though she knew she was always meant to be Harbison.

Her skin slowly healed, and her coat grew thicker as days went by. Tina and Harbison became inseparable, spending quality time together at every chance they got. Unfortunately, four months later, Tina was diagnosed with the last stage of kidney failure.

To Harbison’s surprise, this diagnosis didn’t shake up Tina’s enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed every moment like it was her last, from going on outdoor adventures with Harbison (including swimming) to curling up on her favorite hammock and playing with her tennis balls. Nothing mattered more to Tina than making every minute of her second chance at life count.

Tina Dies, But Her Legacy Will Live On

Sadly, Tina succumbed to kidney failure within six months of being under Harbison’s care. Although her death hit hard, Harbison is grateful for all the beautiful memories they made together. Tina made such a huge impact on Harbison’s life that she was, in fact, his main inspiration for starting Happy Doggo.

Not to mention, Harbison is currently building an animal hospital, which he’ll name “Tina’s Hospital” in honor of his cherished canine soulmate. Let’s just say that if the “ultimate happy ending” were a story, it would definitely be Tina’s.
