I remember the first time I saw him. There he was, a big puppy with paws almost as big as my hand, looking a little sad and stressed out. At just four to six months old, he was at a pivotal age. It broke my heart to see such a young dog struggling to comprehend his surroundings. Why was he in this place? What had brought him to this situation?
The Story Behind Those Eyes
A Good Samaritan had found him abandoned on a property with a litter. They had kept him for two weeks, hoping to find his owner. But no one came forward. The rest of his siblings had been adopted, and he was the only one left. It was a story that tugged at my heartstrings.
A Glimmer of Hope
Just as I was getting to know him, the team at the shelter informed me that someone was in the lobby, eager to meet this big puppy. Roger, a man who had been greenlit for a service dog, had come with his kids to see if this puppy would be a good fit for their family. I watched with bated breath, hoping for a connection.

The initial interaction was heartwarming. The kids seemed to take to him immediately. But as with any first meeting, there were moments of uncertainty.
