Two Rescues. One Mission. Rebecca Zamolo and Rocky Kanaka Team Up for Dogs and Moms
When a famous YouTuber spotted a frightened stray dog tied to a fence near a busy road, she didn’t hesitate. In the middle of searching for her own missing pup, she stopped everything to help. With patience, calm gestures, and a handful of treats, she approached the dog, gently unhooked his leash, and brought him to safety. That dog, now named Canelo, had no tags, no microchip, and—at the time—no home.
The rescue was captured on video and quickly went viral. But what fans didn’t see was that this wasn’t the first time Rebecca Zamolo had fought for a second chance. Behind the scenes, she had been on a difficult and deeply personal journey: her battle with infertility.
Years earlier, after undergoing surgery to remove her colon due to ulcerative colitis, doctors told Rebecca that having children would be an uphill climb. Determined to become a mother, she began IVF. The process was filled with setbacks—failed cycles, a miscarriage, and the emotional weight of feeling out of control. But eventually, with the right medical support and a carefully tailored vitamin regimen, she gave birth to her daughter, Zadie.
That life-changing experience inspired her to create MOLO a wellness brand offering fertility supplements and education for women navigating their own journeys to motherhood. MOLO is a play on her last name (ZaMOLO) and a MOther’s LOve.
With guidance from OB-GYNs, nutritionists, and fertility experts, MOLO is now available at Walmart, offering support and community to women who might otherwise feel alone in the process.
Rebecca’s passion for helping others—both human and canine—caught the attention of fellow YouTuber and pet rescue advocate Rocky Kanaka, who is known for giving a voice to shelter dogs through his popular series Sitting With Dogs. When Rocky learned about Canelo’s story, he knew exactly what to do: help find this sweet Shar Pei mix a forever home.
Canelo, now safe in foster care, is around five years old, great with people, and especially fond of men. He loves long walks, cozy naps with his toys, and the occasional skunk sighting (he’s curious, not confrontational).
