Dominoa and Rocks were recently surrendered to the shelter by the family that once promised to love them forever. These two sisters had lived together in the same home for as long as they could remember. So, you can imagine how shattered their hearts were when they found themselves at the shelter, away from the warmth of a real home. The only thing Dominoa and Rocks had left was each other. What they never expected was that this, too, would be taken away from them.

A Painful Separation
When Dominoa and Rocks arrived at the shelter, they were unintentionally placed in different kennels. Unfortunately, this minor separation marked the beginning of their emotional turmoil. Besides struggling to adjust to the overwhelming shelter environment, the pair had a hard time coping with the reality of being far from each other.
While in their respective kennels, Dominoa and Rocks remained completely shut down. They barely ate their food and showed no interest in treats, toys, or even people. Dominoa, in particular, would sit in silence at the back of her kennel with her head low, as though too broken to face the world. So when one shelter volunteer, TikTok user @riseuprescueatl, came across Dominoa in her withdrawn state, she offered to foster her.
“4 days ago, I went to get a weekend foster and ended up bringing home one of the most scared dogs in the shelter. Dominoa wouldn’t leave her kennel or eat since her owner surrendered her 2 weeks ago,” @riseuprescueatl captioned in a touching TikTok video.
But even in her new foster home, Dominoa’s heartache didn’t soften. She seemed sad all the time and would still refuse to eat or leave her crate. After doing a little research, @riseuprescueatl found that Dominoa’s sister, Rocks, was in another foster home. And like Dominoa, Rocks wasn’t doing okay in her new home.
At this point, it all became clear: Dominoa & Rocks were struggling to function without each other. The hearts were broken because they silently yearned for each other’s presence and comfort. This realization prompted @riseuprescueatl to reach out to Rocks’s foster, who lived close by, to plan a reunion for the two pups. They never imagined that this reunion would change everything.
Two Empty Hearts Finally Whole
The moment Dominoa and Rocks recognized each other, they both came alive. For the first time in days, Rocks left her kennel when she saw Dominoa. The two immediately went to explore the yard, something neither had ever done since arriving in their respective foster homes.
Within minutes, Dominoa and Rocks had brought out the best in each other. They rolled in the grass side by side and followed each other everywhere as they soaked in the blessing of being together again. Amazingly, the two even ate together without being forced. Dominoa and Rocks showed their playful & affectionate sides for the first time, something their fosters hadn’t seen before. This reunion wasn’t just an ordinary meet-up; it was a moment of healing for Dominoa and Rocks. These two pups showed the world that bonded pairs don’t just love one another. They need each other.
