Willie Was Emaciated & Riddled With Scars
Upon his rescue, Willie was emaciated, riddled with scars, and battling heartworm. However, his gentle and calm demeanor immediately captured her heart, as it did with everyone who crossed his path, said Jill Baffone, a volunteer at the shelter where he was brought.
Despite his charming disposition, Willie faced challenges on his path to a forever home. He was adopted not once but twice, only to be returned due to severe separation anxiety. This anxiety made him an unlikely candidate for adoption from the shelter.

In her words, “He kept getting returned because he has really bad separation anxiety, so then he’s probably not gonna get adopted easily out of the shelter.” She worked tirelessly to create a safe and nurturing environment for him.
