Overcrowded Shelters Almost Cost Her Life—How One Bulldog Beat the Odds Thanks to a Heroic Rescue

Animal shelters in the United States are so overcrowded that many sick or injured dogs are not getting the care they need to survive. Sadly, these dogs are either succumbing to illness or being euthanized to make room for others. Tabitha Honeyglow, a young female Bulldog, was one such medical case in a shelter.

She was living in a horrible condition at the shelter when Roadogs Rescue saved Tabitha and got her out of there. She had an abscess that burst causing her neck to rip open. The poor dog wouldn’t have survived if the Southern California-based rescue hadn’t arranged for her emergency surgery.

Dog Underwent A Second Surgery

Before things could get better for Tabitha after her surgery, her stitches came apart. As a result, she had to go through another surgery.

Yet, the dog still didn’t give up. Even being a young dog and going through two surgeries back to back, Tabitha fought courageously and has now completely recovered. Currently, she is thriving with her foster mom, Megan.

It is truly a miraculous recovery, all thanks to the dedication of Roadogs Rescue. Had Tabitha stayed in the shelter, her chances of survival would have been incredibly slim. But it’s important to understand that the shelter isn’t to blame. Pet Rescue Advocate Rocky Kanaka explains, “The challenge for shelters in these situations is the overwhelming medical costs required to save dogs like Tabitha. It’s a heartbreaking reality.”

When Roadogs shared Tabitha’s story on social media, the sweet dog received a lot of love in the comments. An Instagram user, Christine, wrote, “Tabitha you are precious in God’s eyes and definitely your rescuers and followers. I am sorry you had such a hard life but from this point on it’s going to be glorious. ❤️”

Give This Resilient Dog A Loving Home

Tabitha may have gone through plenty of struggles in her short life, but that doesn’t mean that she has given up on life. Still filled with puppy energy, she enjoys going on walks, and loves to be the center of attention.

Can you be the one to fulfill Tabitha’s needs and shower her with love and care? According to the rescue staff, the ideal home for this wonderful canine would be one without other pets or with a small, tolerant, and submissive dog, as Tabitha is not fond of larger dogs.

In addition, it would be great if Tabitha’s potential adopter has experience with Bulldogs and is patient with her. The adorable girl has gone through significant trauma and thus needs to be slowly introduced to new people or animals.

Another thing to note is that she is not housetrained. She loves being outside, so having a yard will be preferable.
