Once Full of Hope, Now Heartbroken: This Dog has Waited 3 Years in the Shelter for a Loving Home.
Almost every dog arrives at the shelter with high hopes of finding a family sooner than later. They wag their tail non-stop as visitors walk by, knowing that it won’t take long before someone locks eyes with them and decides to sign the adoption papers. Such is the story of Jumanji, a high-spirited, 4-year-and-11-month-old mixed breed who wakes up each morning in his kennel with a broken heart. When Jumanji was brought to the Humane Society Naples almost three years ago, his initial days at the shelter were marked by optimism. This has since changed, as what staff at the shelter now see is a sad-faced pup who doesn’t look forward to seeing what each day will bring.
From Day One to Day 1075
It’s approximately 1075 days since Jumanji came to the Humane Society Naples. This lovely, fun-loving pup has never experienced what being in a real home feels like, since nobody has offered to foster him so far, let alone give him a permanent home.
In fact, the closest Jumanji has come to the outside world is when staff take him for walks to help him catch a break from his lonely kennel life. Jumanji’s hopelessness is plastered all over his face, and the only thing that offers him relief for a moment is the stuffed toys that staff members surprise him with weekly. He’s obsessed with these toys, as evident from how his tail wags with pure joy when he receives them.
1075 days later, all Jumanji craves is to see himself living life out there with his dream family.
