When Denali was first brought to her rescuers, she was heavily pregnant and on the brink of giving birth. “She was on a kill list,” recalls Casey, detailing the urgency of the situation. The initial moments were filled with anticipation and a rush to provide Denali with a comfortable environment. A secluded foster bedroom was quickly transformed into a makeshift birthing room, complete with puppy pads, blankets, and all the essentials. Despite the preparations, Denali kept her rescuers waiting, perhaps needing to feel safe and secure before bringing her puppies into the world.

From a scared, pregnant dog, Denali began to show signs of trust, wagging her tail and accepting food from her caregivers.
The climax of this emotional journey was the birth of 11 healthy puppies. The event was described as “magical” by the Amanda, emphasizing the significance of the moment. Unlike other rescue dogs who quickly adapt to their new environment, Denali made her rescuers earn her trust. And they did, with unwavering dedication.
“I have such a sweet spot for rescuing pregnant moms because you’re saving puppies as well as the mamma. Denali’s story is really touching because she was rescued last minute and was able to give birth in a loving and safe environment while also learning how to trust humans again,” Amanda said.
The story doesn’t end with the birth of the puppies. In a happy conclusion, all of Denali’s puppies found loving homes, and so did she.
