Watch the video above: After being chained up in a backyard for 5 years Herschel was given a 2nd chance when Found Animals rescued him and an even bigger chance when we was featured on Rocky Kanaka’s show Dog’s Day Out. Because of the show 200 families wanted to adopt him! Follow him on the road trip of a lifetime to meet his new forever family! Warning: you will need kleenex at the end!

Herschel has been adopted and is now residing with his new forever home, which is in Washington State. Herschel gets to live with two other German Shepherds on a ranch that’s many acres, so lots and lots of room for playing. But he gets to go in the house whenever he wants, and sleep in a really comfy bed!

The best way to get the update is to watch the video at the top. But here are the main points so far:
- Over 1 million people watched Herschel’s story. The outpouring of love was amazing and Rocky shared all of that love with Herschel.
- Herschel received many applications which is awesome. Some applicants were more qualified than others as some wanted to keep Herschel as a backyard guard dog instead of including him as part of the family– Next player please.
- Luckily there were also many qualified applicants ready to give Herschel the loving home he deserves. The team at Found Animals is making their final selection now. They are down to the final few.
- Throughout this process many people wanted to know if Herschel was a pure German Shepherd or is he mixed with something else. What do you think? We did a DNA test (Many thanks to Wisdom Panel for donating the test) and have the results. Watch the video above to find out! And if you want to test your dog’s DNA, please consider Wisdom Panel.
