Foster Dog Struggling With Anxiety Gets Birthday Gift of His Dreams
If shelter dogs could choose between being in a kennel or a foster home, it goes without saying that they’d wish to be in the loving arms of a foster parent. These lovely dogs will give anything to be away from the shelter environment, and even though fostering is a temporary arrangement, to them, it’s way better than waking up to the monotonous sight of the kennel walls.
Four-year-old Bello, a gentle, friendly shelter pup who had been listed for euthanasia just a few weeks ago, found relief when someone opted to foster him, saving him from the brink of death. Being in a loving foster home — something he’d never probably experienced before — made Sweet boy Bello too attached to his foster to the extent he’d get super anxious when left alone, even for short periods.
It became apparent that Bello needed a fix for his separation anxiety, so his foster got him exactly what he needed on his 4th birthday: a foster sibling.

Bello recently turned four, and his foster opted to get him a brother sibling to help fill the void he’d develop whenever his humans weren’t around. Indeed, this was the best decision they made, as Bello has since become happier than ever.
His new sibling, Benzyl, is as friendly and cheerful as him, so they get along perfectly. To add to that, Benzyl, just like Bello, was rescued when he was about to be euthanized. Benzyl is in a foster arrangement, too. One can easily conclude that the similarities in their personality and backstories might have played a big role in how fast these two pups bonded. Their friendship sparked as soon as they met.
Bello and Benzyl have become the best of friends; they play together, chill together, carry out all their mischievous plans together, and are each other’s source of comfort.
Having a constant friend around has really eased Bello’s separation anxiety, and his foster parent wouldn’t have it any other way. This just goes to show that dogs, just like humans, are social creatures who thrive best with companionship. Bello no longer battles feelings of separation anxiety, and even though his future remains uncertain, his happiness right now is what truly matters.
