Dogs’ Hearts Shattered After Failing to Get Adopted Over the Weekend
All animal shelters have one thing in common: an abundance of canine residents who have what it takes to make incredible companions but can’t seem to win the hearts of potential adopters. As each day breaks, these precious pus wake up with hopes that the day will end with them walking out of the shelter with their forever families. (see video below)
Unfortunately for most of these shelter dogs, days and months go by without their hopes materializing, leaving them heartbroken.
This past weekend, dozens of dogs at the Benton Franklin Humane Society in Washington were devastated after failing to find permanent homes. In a minutes-long TikTok video, the shelter revealed these pups’ faces and how long they’ve been at the shelter. If this heartbreaking clip isn’t proof enough that “adopt-don’t-shop” is the way to go, we don’t know what is (watch video below).
Perfect Dogs Lacking the Perfect Homes
Like every other animal shelter, the Benton Franklin Humane Society works tirelessly to find suitable homes for their dogs. Sadly, luck wasn’t on the side of nearly 20 of their canine residents this past weekend, as nobody expressed interest in taking them home.
As per the video posted by TikTok account @juliesarano2, some of these sweet-faced pups have only been at the shelter for a few days, while others have been there for months and counting. These dogs include:
- Blue: Surrendered to the shelter almost three days ago after death struck in her family
- Bambi: Brought to the shelter as a stray and has been there for 212 days
- Spudnut: Been at the shelter for 10 days
- Oreo: Surrendered to the shelter 10 days ago for being too active
- Leah: Surrendered to the shelter by her family, who were relocating. She’s been there for 107 days.
- Kennel mates Sunny and Skylar: They’ve been at the shelter for six days now
- Kenne mates Sweeney and Santa: They’ve been at the shelter for six days
- Felicity: Been at the shelter for 11 days
- Dracs: Been at the shelter for 37 days
- Kevin: Been a shelter resident for six days
- Jude: Been at the shelter for 43 days
- Darla: Been at the shelter for nine days
- Maize and Kettle: Been at the shelter for four days
- Salad and Spaghetti: Been at the shelter for four days.
