Dog Refuses to Go Anywhere Without His Security Blanket, And It’s Adorable

When a rescue dog is adopted, their birthdate is often unknown. So, instead of having a party on the day they were born, pet parents celebrate the date when they came home, often called their gotcha day. While many provide their four-legged children with their favorite meal or a cake, one mom had an even more special way to commemorate the moment her pup Myko became part of the family.
Helping an Anxious Dog Feel Safe
Despite being in a loving home now, Myko (@mykomushroom) still experiences anxiety from his past life. However, he has found comfort in a blanket he wears around himself everywhere he goes. Whether in the car, on a walk, or greeting someone at the front door, he’s sporting his blankie. Seeing his happy tail wag while it’s on is cuteness overload! That’s why she was inspired to help other dogs feel safe.
A Sense of Security for Shelter Dogs
In honor of his gotcha day, she delivered 200 of his favorite fleece blankets to PAWS, Philadelphia’s largest rescue partner and low-cost veterinary clinic, because “Every dog deserves a blanket and a home,” she describes.
That is the truth. It appears to have worked well, as one dog in their care, a senior named Cobalt, looked snug as a bug in his new blankie. They brought in this sweet boy and his brother Cody in October after their owner sadly passed away. As these senior dogs await their new beginnings in loving homes, they will stay warmer and feel safer.

Two Older Dogs in Search of a Home
PAWS reports that while these two dogs enjoy each other’s company, they can also stress the other out. They hope to place them in separate homes where they can each be spoiled and loved. Cobalt’s current caretakers tell us that this senior dog is quite the love, and although he may have white around his muzzle, he still enjoys taking laps around the yard, showing off his zoomies. He’s also learned to enjoy the finer things in life, they reveal. He likes listening to classical music and piano.
Although his brother Cody enjoys the occasional walk, he isn’t as active and prefers sleeping on the couch, snuggled beside his people. His soulful eyes, they describe, are always trying to score a few snacks. He sounds like the ideal date for movie night.
Dogs are born with a pure, kind, and giving spirit. This is why helping others awaiting forever homes feel safe and loved is the perfect way to honor them.
