Back at the Shelter Once Again, Pitbull Mix Cries for a Family to Call His Own
Nothing can make a dog’s world crush in an instant like the realization that they’re back at the shelter. As much as shelters are true safe havens for dogs rescued from grim circumstances, these facilities can’t be compared to the warmth and security of a real home.
No one knows this better than Mako, a 9-year-old Pit Bull Mix who’s been returned to the shelter after being a part of a loving foster home — a home he thought he’d be in forever. A video showing a sorrow-stricken Mako howling in pain will make you realize how much shelter dogs yearn for a family to call their own and how sad they feel when they lose homes that meant everything to them.
Short-Lived Happiness
Mako was recently surrendered to the shelter by his foster. It’s a decision his foster made with a heavy heart since death struck in their family, so they had to take in a dog left behind by the deceased family member. Unfortunately, they couldn’t continue caring for Mako around, leaving them with no choice but to return him to the shelter.
What’s even more heartbreaking about Mako’s situation is that he’s seen shelter doorsteps more times than the doorsteps of a welcoming home.
For the past three years, Mako has been tossed from one shelter to another. This 93-pound bundle of pure love has been in three different shelters before, so you can imagine how broken he is to be back in the very same environment he dreads. In fact, staff say that the kennel life often takes a mighty toll on Moko. All this sweet boy desires is a permanent home to call his own once and for all. That isn’t too much to ask for a dog that has so much love and loyalty to give.
