No One Wanted To Adopt Shy Mama Dog, What Happens Next Changes Her Life
A scruffy Pitbull mix, Mazie, had to face too many disappointments, before she finally found her forever home. Mazie is a scruffy Pit mix, who was found with her 8 puppies in a parking lot in December 2023. NorCally Bully Breed Rescue, located in Sacramento, California, took her in as well as her pups.
Mazie was safe now, but the quest to find a home for her and her babies was not over. Her puppies were little balls of joy, and thus, almost all of them got adopted not long after they were rescued. However, fate had different plans for their sweet mother.
Many Rejections and Heartbreaks
Whereas Mazie’s pups were outgoing and lively, Mazie was shy and reserved. This turned out to be a setback for her as people often rejected her, mistaking her shyness for disinterest. (watch the video below)

As per the rescue, Mazie was actually adopted soon after they took her in. However, the family returned her after mere three days, saying that she was not the right fit.
The rescue tried to make people understand that Mazie just needed about one week of patience and care to open up. After that, they will see how much of a sweetheart she really is, as she will become their perfect canine companion.
Sadly though, no one was willing to take that chance. After a single meeting, they would feel there was no connection between them, and would leave empty-handed. All this while, Mazie stayed with her foster mom, Mary, who was there to comfort the dog after every heartbreak.
A New Dawn
Even though Mazie faced so many setbacks, the dog, as well as the rescue, didn’t lose their hope. They knew that it was only time before the adorable dog would find a place to belong to.
Lo and behold, things finally took a turn for Mazie. The rescue received an application from a woman named Barbara. She and her husband, Dmitri, were not only interested in adopting Mazie, but they understood that it would take time for the canine to be comfortable with them.
In a heartwarming twist, Mazie went to her new home with Barbara and Dmitri two months ago, and she has been thriving ever since. In the daily updates sent by Mazie’s new parents, the rescue staff witnessed the dog’s progress as she started trusting her new environment. She started riding in the car, laying on her back, and even playing with her toys.
Through Mazie’s story, it is clear that sometimes, waiting for the right home can be the best thing for a dog. The rescue is grateful that the others didn’t accept Mazie, because then she wouldn’t have found such a loving, patient, and understanding family.
