ROCKY, a rescue volunteer favorite, is a stunning treeing walker coonhound who weighs about 70 pounds. Everyone who knows him is crazy-in-love with him! He’s an affectionate companion who enjoys exploring trails, trotting down sidewalks, or just sitting next to you on the ground cuddling. He is house trained.

Rocky sometimes gets anxious when he hears very loud noises. To address this behavior and a few other issues, PAW sought the help of a trainer. Rocky has proved to be an eager student, and his training sessions have greatly improved his responses to previously uncomfortable sounds. PAW and his trainer will work closely with Rocky’s adopter to ensure the success of his placement. Please note that any adopter of Rocky MUST commit to multiple sessions, in person and/or online, with Rocky’s trainer (which will be complimentary).
Rocky will thrive with stability and lots of affection. He loves vigorous walks and sniffing-based adventures! This boy needs time to grow comfortable in a new environment, as all dogs do. He will reward the right people for their patience with hours of goofy hound entertainment and years of love and loyalty.
PAW usually places animals in the Washington, DC Metropolitan usually, but we are willing to place Rocky outside that area to find the right home for him! Rocky’s forever home should be a calm household with dog-experienced adults and no young children. It should be in a relatively quiet suburban or rural setting.
