Ol Red is a Redbone Coonhound and is estimated at 5-6 years old. He weighs around 54 lbs and is a typical hound dog. He has been at BCAS for almost 1 year as hounds are difficult to place in our area. He was a stray so all we know is what we have learned about him while at the shelter. Ol Red is dog selective and may not be a good fit in homes with other dogs but maybe with the right temperament dog he would do great. He is a hunting breed so a home with cats would be stressful and not recommended. Ol Red does not like his tail to be grabbed or pushed around from behind. He will give you a warning as to what his limits are. He does great in a crate, you just have to use care when getting him to go in. He has a fatty tumor growth on his neck as told by the vet that does not bother him, but he would probably like it removed as it can interfere with a collar and leash. He shows some food aggression issues while at the shelter but this can be corrected with training. Hounds make great family pets and Ol Red is no exception. He just needs time to adjust to a new environment and learn the ropes. Can you give this gorgeous boy the loving home he deserves?
