Meet Kylie!

Kylie is an extremely sweet almost 4 year old female pug who traveled here from LA where she had been surrendered to Pug Rescue of LA after her owners could no longer keep her.

Kylie is constructed of 100% Velcro. She wants nothing more than to be with her person. If you suffer with low self-esteem, Kylie will make you feel like you are the only person in the world. It is hard to emphasize enough how sweet this girl is.

Kylie just experienced her first snowfall and let’s just say she is not a fan. She prefers to be inside, snuggled up on the couch. She enjoys short walks from time to time and is good on a leash, but she would rather be carried around by her favorite human. She’s lovable, playful, goofy and gets along with all. She doesn’t guard food or toys and is 99% potty trained. When it’s time to go out, she goes to the door and paces back and forth. In her former home she had a doggy door. We are not fans of these methods for potty training as we believe all pugs should be accompanied outdoors, but if you hung some bells by the door, we bet she’d catch on very quickly. When left alone she has free range in the house with the other pups. She’ll cry at the door for a couple minutes but eventually gets settled in with her furry friends. We don’t think she needs to have someone around at all times, but Kylie thrives on connection.  If her new family has periods of absence due to work or other obligations, Kylie would like another animal companion with an even keeled temperament. She loves car rides, but mostly for the naps. She hops right into her car seat and assumes the napping position. If you’re driving for an hour, she’s snoring for an hour!

Kylie is a true Pug and does ALL the Pug things. She snorts, she snores, she’ll sneeze in your face, eyeball your food, sleep on your head, and has to find the perfect spot to pee. She’s also the forms strong bonds with her people. She’ll follow you everywhere you go! When it’s time for bed she quickly jumps up and is in your spot before you are. She wants to make sure she’s going to be nice and close!

Healthwise, Kylie is up to date on vaccines, spayed and microchipped. She had a long past history of an episode of 2 seizures as a puppy documented in her medical records, but none reported after that and we have seen no evidence of any seizure activity. She was never started on any medication related to the seizures as they did not return. Kylie has luxating patella in both hind legs.  There is no treatment recommended at this time, but we have started her on a joint supplement. Her future owners may wish to pursue other alternative treatments. She hops up and down the flight of stairs in her foster home with ease. She also has brachycephalic airway syndrome. For these 2 reasons along with general good health practices Kylie’s weight should be kept at 15-16 lbs. She has about another pound to shave off. Short walks with a harness, not a collar should be part of her routine, and she should be outdoors for potty purposes only during extreme temperatures hot or cold.

A fenced in yard may not be necessary for this girl. She likes to stay nice and close.

This is a good, easy girl!  She’d love to a be part of a big family but would be just as happy in a quiet house getting lots of attention and love all to herself.
