Marco ended up at Animal Friends of the Valley in October of 2022, brought in by a Good Samaritan who found him as a stray. Marco was out of time at the shelter due to space and that is when Last Chance at Life stepped in to save him! He has been under our care for 18 months and so desperately deserves a forever family! We have learned a lot about Marco in his time with us and he just graduated from an 8 week training program with Specialty Dog Training and is doing absolutely amazing!
According to his trainer, this handsome guy is your typical cattle dog – intelligent, energetic, loyal to his human(s), can be wary of strangers and not necessarily concerned about building a group of canine friends. Marco will thrive with a breed savvy owner who is looking for good- looking, canine partner to share life with. Marco would enjoy days that are filled with a hike or a learning a new activity like scent training! A home that is familiar with his breed and able to provide confident leadership would be perfect for him. While he could likely live with a low energy and respectful dog, he would also do great in a home as an only dog.
It is recommended that his forever home also has children older than 12 and no cats. Marco is soft, sweet and ready to please; his eyes are gentle and captivating! He understands and confidently follows many commands such as heel, leave it, place, come, down, off or no. Marco just completed his training program and this comes with personal sessions from his trainer to show you all that he knows so that he can integrate to your home smoothly!
