Mara, the sweetest dog that no one wanted, is looking for her miracle furever home. We rescued Mara from a high-kill GA shelter just hours before she was scheduled to be euthanized, in December 2022.

Two people had stepped up to sponsor Mara’s care, and secured a foster for her. Within a few weeks, the foster bailed on Mara, even after we paid for a trainer to do in-home training with her. To add insult to injury, the two people who agreed to sponsor Mara through her rescue journey completely abandoned her and their commitments to the rescue.

Mara was left with no foster and no sponsor; nowhere to go. In January 2023, to get Mara “adoption-ready,” we sent her to one of our best training partners’ Board & Train program for (what was supposed to be) 2 months. Mara rocked her training! She is phenomenal walking on leash and does not react to other dogs on leash. She is also muzzle trained to be with dogs in doggy play time.

We tried and tried to find another foster to step up for Mara – no one did. So Mara spent the next 10 months in boarding, declining physically and mentally. It seemed that no matter how hard we tried, no one wanted her. We reached out to rescue partners across the country, and came up empty. We were at a loss, and running out of options.

Then, miraculously, we received a foster application that was not specifically for Mara, but upon reading it, we knew it would be the perfect situation for her. We reached out to the applicant and she agreed to foster Mara. We finally had a (temporary) home for her! There was just one catch – this wonderful human being was in the process of selling their home, and planning a move to Europe within the next 6 months.

The countdown clock has started. We have less than 6 months to find Mara her forever home. Mara is a beautiful girl, fully trained, and simply needs to be in a home as an only dog. She is very smart and LOVES human attention. She loves car rides, long walks/hikes, and LOVES PUP CUPS!

She MUST be the only dog in the home. However, Mara is fully muzzle trained and only needs it if she is near other dogs (in doggy day care). This darling girl has been failed by humans over and over again. But we never gave up on her, and she knows that. We will do whatever it takes to find this wonderful pup her perfect home.
