Beans had everything going for him: he was house-trained, good with kids, and even loved car rides. But on April 26, 2025, this 3-year-old Labrador Retriever–Pit Bull mix was surrendered to Animal Friends of the Valleys by his owner. While we may never fully understand why, what we do have is a detailed list of all the great things his former family shared about him—and they paint a picture of a truly solid companion.
At 60+ pounds, Beans is a strong, friendly boy with a goofy name and a big heart. He’s crate-trained, rides well in the car, enjoys being brushed, and doesn’t dig, chew, or try to escape fences. His past owner even noted that he’s good with kids, and while he’s had no formal obedience training, he already knows how to sit—a great start for anyone looking to continue his training.
Why Beans Might Be the Right Dog for You:
🐾 Great on leash once he’s out of his kennel
🏡 Mellow on walks, curious and loves to sniff
🧒 Known to be good with children
🚗 Comfortable in cars and enjoys the ride
🛏️ Calm in the home and crate-trained
Our dog walkers say Beans has a bit of energy coming out of his kennel (can you blame him?), but once he’s on the move, he settles into a calm and curious stride. His tail wags as he explores his surroundings, and he’ll nudge in for scritches if you stop to say hi.
Beans is a smart, sweet boy who’s looking for a forever family to continue what his first home started. With the right people, Beans won’t just be a good dog—he’ll be the perfect addition to your life.
