1. Frederick

Frederick is just 9 months old but has already been in the shelter for 10 days after being surrendered by owners who already had too many animals to care for. Frederick is a Labrador Retriever mix, weighs 66 pounds, and is still just a puppy with tons of playful energy.

Vin Diesel is a beautiful five-year-old blue Pit Bull Terrier mix who has been at the shelter for around 10 days after coming in as a stray. Vin Diesel is a 65-pound wiggly house hippo, super cheerful, and ready for a home!

Violet is a 9-month-old Labrador Retriever mix who was also surrendered because her humans had too many animals. Violet weighs 61 pounds and is a high-energy puppy—proof you don’t need to go to a breeder to get a puppy!

Beautiful Layla is a 2-year-old Siberian Husky mix weighing in at 52 pounds who was found as a stray. Now 20+ days into her shelter stay, Layla needs a home that can give an intelligent and high-energy dog what she needs to thrive.

Blue is an Australian Cattle Dog x Siberian Husky mix who loves to play and still has puppy energy. Just 1 year old, Blue weighs 37 pounds and needs a new home after his previous owner sadly passed away.

Maize—a 57-pound, 6-month-old Alaskan Malamute mix—was brought to the shelter with another puppy 26 days ago after being found as strays. Maize has a lot of learning and growing up to do and would like to do it with her forever family!

7. Sniffers, Sunny, Simon, Sissy & Samson

(From left to right) Sniffers, Sunny, Simon, Sissy, and Samson are five possible siblings—not bonded—who were brought to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society after being unable to find homes at their first shelter. Now this group of Maltese mixes has been waiting 27 days to be adopted.

High-energy dogs end up in shelters more frequently than low-energy dogs because their owners simply can’t handle how much work their care is. Oreo is a 7-month-old Border Collie mix who has been in the shelter for 32 days because her humans couldn’t handle her energy.

Bjorn is a very handsome 2.5-year-old Rottweiler mix who was surrendered to the shelter 33 days ago because of his owner’s declining health. 100-pound Bjorn is a sweet, affectionate giant just hoping to find someone who can appreciate his goofy side.

Bo is a purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound and an energetic 7-year-old dog. Bo has been in the shelter for 51 days since his owner got sick and needs a home that has no small animals and understands his unique breed’s needs.

Chleo is a gorgeous Pit Bull Terrier x Border Collie mix with piercing blue eyes who has spent 3+ months of her 10 months of life at the shelter. Chleo is intelligent, playful, and desperate for a family who sees her magic.

1.5-year-old Siberian Husky mix Kirby has been in the shelter for more than 150 days since being found as a stray. Kirby is smart, eager to please, and would be perfect for an active family.

Nearly 500 days ago, Papa’s humans surrendered him to the shelter because they were moving. Papa is now 3 years and 8 months old and is desperate to find a forever family before he turns four. Loving, lively, and goofy, Papa is a 70-pound Pit Bull Terrier mix.

Ollie is one of Benton-Franklin Humane Society’s longest residents and has been there since he was dumped outside their facilities 1.5 years ago. Ollie is a quirky, social, outgoing German Shepherd mix who weighs 62 pounds and needs a home that can appreciate his uniqueness!
