Watch This Pit Bull’s Emotional Send-Off After 604 Long Days in a Shelter
When Marlon — an 8-year-old Pit Bull Mix — first arrived at LA-based Wags and Walks rescue — staff members never imagined he’d end up being one of their longest residents. Despite his sweet, easy-going nature, Marlon was repeatedly overlooked until his desire for a forever home started to seem like a far-fetched dream.
But as they say, the best things in life sometimes arrive when we least expect them. After roughly 604 days of being under the rescue’s care, Marlon recently landed his forever home. Staff members were overjoyed, so much so that they ensured to make his adoption day a big deal by giving him a grand exit.

An Unforgettable Exit for an Unforgettable Dog
For the entire time he’d been at the rescue, Marlon was an absolute sweetheart to staff and volunteers. Plus, given how long he had waited to find a home, the rescue made it their mission to make this pup’s adoption end on a high note.
In a heartwarming video posted on the rescue’s TikTok account @wagsandwalksla, staff members can be seen lined up on both sides as they cheer on while Marlon (who’s rocking the cutest neck bow tie) and his new family walk out of the main entrance. Marlon’s tail wags with every handclap, and it’s pretty evident that he’s elated to be headed home with his dream family.
A Well-Deserved Happy Ending
Like most shelter dogs, Marlon’s past life was a rough one. He was among over 30 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation on a property back in Mexico. These lovely pups were found abandoned in shopping carts used as makeshift crates before being brought to LA. During the rescue, Marlon stood out from the other dogs as he was the oldest.
From the moment he arrived at Wags and Walk, Marlon impressed staff with how loving and people-friendly he was. The rescue worked on his training, ultimately molding him into a well-rounded pup who’s crate trained, potty trained, and has a grasp of commands.
Marlon now has a home to call his own, all thanks to a family that chose him when everyone else walked past his kennel. His tough past is now behind him, and we’re happy that his days of waking up to the dull shelter walls are now over.
“After waiting for almost two years, Marlon has finally found a family that appreciates all that he has to offer. His happy ending is a reminder that by choosing to adopt, you’ll give a hopeless dog a chance to experience the true love they never thought existed,” pet rescue advocate Rocky Kanaka says.
