Tiny 1 Pound Puppy Abandoned in Trash—What Happened Next Will Melt Your Heart

Can you imagine a puppy so tiny he weighed no more than a loaf of bread? At just 700 grams, 5-week-old Pino was nothing but skin and bones when he was heartlessly abandoned.

A pup as sweet as Pino should have been curled up under a Christmas tree, cherished as a gift of love. Instead, he was discovered stuffed inside a rice bag and tossed out with the trash just after St. Nicholas Day. The person who left him behind vanished quickly, leaving the fragile little pup alone, terrified, and far too weak to survive on his own. (Watch Video Below)

A Frail Pup’s Cry for Love

Thankfully, little Pino was taken in by the rescue Little Steps Matter Bali, where the team did everything possible to give him a fighting chance. His past was a mystery—the person who abandoned him disappeared without a trace—so all the rescue could do was focus on helping him heal and move forward.

When he first arrived, Pino wasn’t just weak and fragile, but was also heartbroken. For days, the tiny pup cried out for his mother, not understanding why she wasn’t there.

A Happy Ending Made Possible by Rescue

Pino’s life may have started in despair, but his story has the happiest ending. When his future parent visited the rescue’s Safe House, it was love at first sight. From that moment on, Pino’s future was sealed as he had finally found his forever family.

Pet Rescue Advocate Rocky Kanaka is also one of them, as he states, “Pino’s story is the perfect reminder of why we fight for every single rescue. A tiny puppy tossed away like trash is now thriving because someone cared enough to give him a chance. That’s the power of love, and it’s why rescue work matters so much.”
