This Little Dog Was Abandoned in a Sealed Box, Now He’s Visited 40 Countries With His Dad
When Elko’s previous owners abandoned him on the streets, little did they know that this little dog was going to have the best life. Elko is a Dachshund-Chihuahua-Jack Russell mix who was found in a sealed box on the side of a road. He ended up at a local shelter where they sent out a plea for someone to foster him. That’s when Atek, a 26-year-old from Los Angeles with an ordinary corporate job, stepped in. What started as a foster placement turned into forever love. And today, Elko isn’t just safe, he’s a world traveler. Together, he and his dad have explored 40 countries, proving that sometimes the darkest beginnings lead to the brightest journeys.
Living a Dream Life, Together

Atek worked a stable 9-to-5 job in 2022, which is when he decided to foster Elko. Even though he had never owned a dog before, this LA man fell completely in love with the little furry friend, leading to foster failure.
After officially adopting Elko, Atek decided to quit his corporate job and travel with his new beloved pet. He not only quit his career, but also sold everything he owned—his car, apartment, and everything else.
The duo went on their first solo trip to Thailand, which changed their lives, and ever since then, they have been traveling the world together.

Not Just a Rescue Dog, But a World Traveler
Elko has his own pet passport now, and the best part is that he’s put it to good use. The little guy has traveled to 40 countries with his dad. From Finland to Turkey to Greece, he’s seen it all.
Once an abandoned dog with an uncertain future, Elko has now lived experiences that many humans dream about. The doggo has hiked the Swiss Alps, got his picture taken in front of the Eiffel Tower, enjoyed fancy dinners in Austria, and played fetch in the fjords of Norway.
Sharing the dog’s wonderful travel experiences on Instagram (@awayonearth), Atek revealed his wish for Elko to set the record for the world’s most traveled dog.

The Instagram account has 267K followers who love to see the dog going on trips around the world. A rescue organization, Bali Paws, commented on one of the posts, saying, “Your content always makes me smile! Thank you for making Elko‘s life so special and for sharing these beautiful videos with us ❤️🐾🐶”
Meanwhile, a user, Sharon Macgowan, wrote, “Amazing your dog is so lucky to travel with you on your adventures 😊 🐶.”
