This City Just Opened a Library…But It’s Only for Dogs
I’m sure you’ve seen or heard of little libraries around the world where you can take a book and leave a book. But what if, instead of books, they were filled with sticks? Sounds a bit silly? Maybe for you, but it makes perfect sense for your furry friends who are always looking for the perfect stick to play fetch. (Watch Video Below)
At Fresh Pond Reservation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this “dog library” is fetching plenty of attention, as per CBS News. The rules are simple: take a stick, leave a stick. And judging by the happy wagging tails, it’s a hit.
Cambridge’s Sweetest Spot for Pups
The library holds a small but thoughtful selection of sticks, each one picked with care and ready to deliver plenty of tail-wagging fetch time. It might be a little quirky, but behind the humor is a whole lot of love and community spirit.

During the summer months, the off-leash area is already a hotspot for dogs to splash around and explore the water. Now, with a steady supply of sticks on hand, the joy is doubled, whether it’s for an epic game of fetch or just a little souvenir to carry on the walk home.
A dog walker amusingly noted, “It’s such a great Cambridge thing, right? A stick library for all the locals who come by, for adults and humans, and dogs.”

Meanwhile, Cambridge resident Liz agrees. “It’s so great, and it’s such a sweet idea,” she said.
A Golden Retriever’s Stamp of Approval
A Golden Retriever named Henry has claimed this spot as one of his favorites. He and his parent, Mark, make it a regular stop on their walks, turning it into a highlight of their day.
This sweet, playful pup is always on the hunt for the perfect stick, and now, thanks to the dog library, he’s spoiled for choice. “We’re always looking for the right stick,” Mark said.

It’s no wonder the dog library is making waves in Cambridge. In no time, it’s become one of the best places to take your dog, whether for a scenic walk, a splash in the pond, or just a little extra fun.
A Beach Day with a Fetching Twist
The dog library in Cambridge isn’t the first of its kind. There’s another charming one in Stockton Springs, Maine, stocked with free sticks and balls for visiting pups.
Nestled at Sandy Point Beach, this library turns an ordinary doggy beach day into something extra special, for both dogs and their humans.

“You bring the dogs down here, and they’re playing with other dogs, and they’re playing with sticks the balls. It just makes them a happier dog,” shared Laurie Gray, a dog parent.
In the end, the dog library is more than just a clever idea. It’s a simple reminder of the joy dogs bring into our lives and how a community can come together to make those moments even sweeter.
