These 6 Adorable Puppies Were Set on Fire Inside a Box — Their Miraculous Rescue Will Make You Cry Happy Tears
The Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) has witnessed all manner of animal cruelty cases before. But just recently, they handled what they now consider one of the worst cases they’ve ever dealt with.
A couple of days ago, HSBC was notified of a litter of six puppies — aged a few months old — burned alive inside a cardboard box. The horrific incident took place in the Dominican Republic, a country in the Southern Caribbean known for its rampant cases of animal abuse and cruelty. (Watch Video Below)
@humanebroward It is unthinkable 💔 6 puppies just arrived at our shelter from the country of Dominica, located in the southern Caribbean. At only a few months old, they suffered unimaginable cruelty at the hands of a local resident, who put them all in a cardboard box and set it on fire. We wish we could say this horrific act was a rare occurrence, but sadly this is not the case. Dominica is a country with very few resources, and in the game for survival, the animals are not winning. By some miracle, these 6 puppies survived… but they were far from safe. The woman who rescued them had to quickly hide the badly injured puppies at her remote sanctuary in the mountains, where they would not become victims of further abuse by the locals. It is hard to imagine a situation where there is so much hate and anger towards innocent animals, but this is the result of generations that have been lacking in resources, as well as lacking in education. In a place where homeless pets are regularly poisoned and abused, even within the walls of a shelter which are often broken into, there is no safe place for them. So when we were asked to take in these 6 puppies and help them begin new lives in the U.S., we didn’t hesitate to accept them. They are now safe in our care and are ready to find loving forever homes ❤️ To adopt, please see our website link in bio and submit an application 🙏 If you cannot adopt, but would like to help, please: – Support the St. Nicholas Animal Rescue in Dominica https://snar-dm.com – Donate to our shelter to support our efforts to re-home at risk animals (link is in bio). – Spread awareness by sharing this post. According to the Humane Society, this was neither an accident nor an act of neglect. Someone intentionally set these helpless pups on fire with one goal in mind: to reduce each one of them to ashes. Luckily, a good Samaritan came to the puppies’ aid in the nick of time and took them to safety before calling a local rescue for help.
A Life-Changing Rescue

Unfortunately, some of the puppies suffered severe burns that left them with huge patches of raw skin. They were all first taken in by the Humane Society’s rescue partner in the Dominican Republic — the St. Nicholas Animal Rescue. Sadly, they couldn’t stay here for long because of the risk of additional abuse, as shelter facilities in Dominica are regularly broken into.
These puppies needed a chance to start life on a clean slate, away from the reminders of their horrors. Once stabilized, arrangements were made to fly them to the Humane Society, where they’d receive advanced medical and emotional support to recover. Bringing them into the U.S. was also a safe bet as they’d be in a country where willing adopters are in plenty, unlike in their home country.
“In a place where homeless pets are regularly poisoned and abused, even within the walls of a shelter, which are often broken into, there is no safe place for them,” the Humane Society wrote. “So when we were asked to take in these six puppies and help them begin new lives in the U.S., we didn’t hesitate to accept them.”
New Beginnings

From the moment these six pups arrived at the Humane Society, they experienced what it truly feels like to be loved and cared for by humans beyond measure. They were tended to by a compassionate medical team, received nourishing meals, and were taught how to trust again by staff members and volunteers.
It didn’t take long before these pups started to thrive. And as more and more people came across the video of their story online, adoption inquiries started trickling in. We’re thrilled to report that as we speak, four of them have already landed loving forever homes. The remaining two, namely Bailey and Cooper, are still waiting for their fairytale ending. If you’d like to adopt either of them, please reach out to the Humane Society here.
“These six puppies survived one of the most harrowing life experiences that no dog deserves to go through. While their story may have begun in misery, we’re confident that they will all know nothing but genuine love, full bowls, and soft beds from now on,” pet rescue advocate Rocky Kanaka says.
