WATCH: After 500 Days in the Shelter, This Pit Bull Is Beginning to Think She’s Invisible

While many dogs are enjoying cozy winter nights with their families, Harmony, a 4-year-old Pit Bull Terrier, waits patiently in her kennel at the Austin Animal Center. She has now earned the unfortunate distinction of being the shelter’s longest female resident.

@goodboygonehome Harmony is the longest stay female dog @Austin Animal Center and has been there for almost 500 days. That’s an incredibly long time to be stuck in a cold, loud kennel waiting for someone to take you home. She’s a sweet and pretty girl, we are all baffled that no one has applied to foster or adopt her. Can you make some room in your home for her? Out of state transport is not available at this time without the help of a rescue. Austin Animal Center is open every day 11-7 and requires adoptions to be done in person #harmony #longstay #coldfront #freezing #warmplace #austin #tx #shelterdog #goodboygonehome #viraldogsoftiktok #reascuedog #help #saveme #sweet #austinanimalcenter ♬ Winter Melody – Jacob's Piano

Nearly 500 days have passed since Harmony first arrived at the shelter, making her wait one of the longest on record. Despite her friendly demeanor and striking grey-and-white coat, she remains overlooked. Staff at the shelter have even outfitted her with a bright pink sweater to keep her warm, but the real warmth Harmony longs for is that of a forever home.

For How Long?

Staff at the shelter can’t help but wonder: for how long will Harmony remain overlooked? Her big smile and gorgeous white and grey coat are just two of Harmony’s endearing attributes. When she made a TV appearance at Fox 7 Austin late last year, she couldn’t resist dishing out the most slobbering kisses to anyone who interacted with her.

Harmony left everyone impressed by how vibrant yet calm she is, which is why it’s puzzling that she’s yet to land a forever home. But despite being overlooked for over a year, Harmony hasn’t lost hope that the family of her dreams is out there. She’ll be the happiest furry girl alive when she sees herself exiting the shelter doors because waking up to solitude and a cold floor for more than a year hasn’t been the best feeling.

Could You Give Harmony Her Happy Ending?

Harmony’s overall personality is to die for. It’s hard to pick our favorite thing about her but allow us to rave about her cheerful demeanor and independent nature. Harmony is a social butterfly who’s always on a mission to keep everyone’s spirits as high as her tail. She loves making new friends; not just humans, but also other dogs. Yes, Harmony gets along wonderfully with her four-legged mates.

Besides being big on showing affection, Harmony walks great on a leash and is house-trained. Not a lover of clingy dogs? Then Harmony is exactly what your heart and home needs. It won’t take long before you realize that this sweetheart of a girl values me-time more than anything. Harmony would rather keep herself entertained with toys than nag you constantly for attention.

At the end of the day, Harmony will gladly snuggle right next to you and snooze the evening away. A little secret from us to you? Spoil her with treats, and she won’t hesitate to show you how much of a good girl she is.
