Pit Bull Heartbroken After His Best Friend Finds Forever Home Without Him
Imagine this: You have a friend whom you love dearly and can’t imagine life without them. You endure hardships together, and no matter what life throws your way, you both stick beside each other without letting anything break the bond you two share. Unfortunately, you end up getting separated due to unforeseen circumstances, and life just doesn’t feel great anymore.
Well, this pretty much sums up the life story of Shrimp, a delightful 2-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier at the Austin Animal Center.
A Painful Separation
Shrimp was brought to the shelter as a stray after he and another dog were discovered seeking shelter under a park bench amidst a heavy downpour. To Shrimp, though, this wasn’t just “another” dog. It was his best friend. Even as strays, Shrimp and his best friend never left each other’s side. They went everywhere together and found solace in one another as they faced the distressing realities of the stray life.

When the two were found huddling together under the bench, it was obvious to their rescuers that these two dogs had a special friendship. It was a friendship that Shrimp thought would last forever, but unknown to him, fate had other plans. Although the two were brought to the same shelter, Shrimp’s best friend was the first to find a forever home. Now, poor Shrimp is forced to face the solitude of the kennel without his cherished friend, as his longing for a permanent home continues to deepen with each passing day.
He simply yearns to find the kind of love and human companionship that will wipe away the heartache of losing his one and only bestie.

Shrimp’s eagerness to receive and reciprocate affection is out of this world. One of his greatest joys in life is being around people, as he’s an easy-going dog who views everyone as a potential friend. The quickest way to Shrimp’s heart? Petting him, brushing his hair, and spoiling him with treats. This playful, house-trained fella is also big on cuddling; he wouldn’t trade a cuddle session with his favorite human for anything!
Shrimp is also dog-friendly and kid-friendly (darn, how can one dog be this perfect?), so you can be sure his presence will bring joy to everyone in your household. Not to mention, Shrimp walks great on a leash. With all these amazing qualities, Shrimp certainly deserves to live the rest of his life in a loving family.
