He Helped Other Dogs Find Homes—Now This Loyal Husky Just Needs One of His Own
TEMECULA, CA — Shadow has every reason to give up on people. But he hasn’t.
The two-year-old Siberian Husky mix has been passed around since he was found as a puppy in July 2024. Despite loving hearts and good intentions, one home after another just wasn’t the right fit. But now, thanks to the small but mighty rescue Kenai’s House in Temecula, Shadow finally has hope again.
Adopted, Returned, and Overlooked—Through No Fault of His Own

Shadow’s journey began with a rescue by a Good Samaritan who brought him to safety. He was adopted in August 2024, only to be returned five months later when his owner had to move to an apartment and could no longer care for a high-energy pup like him.
In March 2025, another hopeful adopter—this time a dedicated shelter volunteer—tried to make it work. But apartment living proved too cramped and chaotic for an active Husky, and Shadow was returned just one week later.
For much of the following months, Shadow lived in a shelter kennel, sometimes paired with other dogs—who were all adopted before him. Volunteers began calling him a “good luck charm,” as every pup who bunked with Shadow seemed to find a home… except Shadow himself.
Still Sweet, Still Smiling, Still Waiting

What’s most remarkable about Shadow isn’t just his striking appearance—it’s his resilience. After being bounced around, isolated, and overlooked, he remains an affectionate, eager-to-please companion. Whether he’s out at public events or meeting new people, Shadow wows everyone with his calm demeanor and beautiful leash manners.
Recently, volunteers took him on a special outing to a winery where he charmed strangers and four-legged friends alike. And just a few days ago, Shadow finally moved into a loving foster home—his first real chance in months to stretch his legs, soak in affection, and act like the beloved dog he’s always been at heart.
Ready for His Forever Person

Shadow is now under the care of Kenai’s House, a compassionate rescue in Temecula, California, where his adoption fee is fully sponsored and he’s already neutered. He’s the kind of dog who thrives with canine companionship and would flourish in a home with another dog—or with someone ready to be his world.
This gentle soul has waited nearly a year for a forever home. Maybe it’s yours.
Shadow has followed people his whole life—now he just needs someone who won’t let him go.
