Happy Tears as Stray Dog’s Devastating Accident Led to an Incredible Transformation
In their daily quest for survival, stray dogs are always on the move as they look for any semblance of a proper meal or shelter. Unfortunately, life on the streets exposes them to many dangers, among them the possibility of being struck by speeding vehicles. It’s a danger that one lovely stray — now named Axl — recently experienced and almost didn’t survive. (Watch TikTok below)
As Axl was going about his business on a day that seemed like any other, he was knocked down by a Taxi and left to fend for himself. Axl likely wasn’t going to survivie when Happy Animals Club — a no-kill animal shelter and sanctuary based in the Philippines — got notified of his plight and rushed to save him (watch the video below).
A Fighting Spirit
When the rescue team arrived, they found an emaciated Axl lying motionless on a deserted pavement. Though he was still alive, he was too weak to even lift his head and acknowledge his kind rescuers. Axl was immediately transported to a local veterinary clinic, where he received round-the-clock treatment, care, and nourishment to help him regain his strength.
Unfortunately, both his hind legs were broken, and it became clear that Axl would need a little more time to make a full recovery. Axl also had ants feasting on his face, which further added to his discomfort. Despite his troubling state of health, the rescue team remained unwavering in their commitment to change his life for good. Sweet Axl cooperated all through, swallowing any medication offered by the vet and allowing his rescuers to comfort him through gentle petting.

After some time, he was strong enough to sit up and drink his water, signaling his determination to overcome his health woes and tragic past. And as the rescuers gave him a refreshing bath, they got to see Axl for who he really was: a beautiful, gentle dog who deserved nothing but a joy-filled life.
Better Days Ahead
So far, Axl has made significant progress in his recovery. He’s added weight, his fur is growing back more luscious, and he excitedly runs around in his wheelchair. Being in a safe, loving environment has also done wonders in erasing his emotional scars. He’s bonded pretty well with his rescuers and has embraced this new chapter of his life with enthusiasm.
Although his road to full recovery may be a long one, Axl has all reasons to be hopeful for better days, all thanks to his human saviors who are doing everything possible to see him thrive.
