Gorgeous Dog Found Tied Up Beneath an Underpass Still Willing to Give Love Another Try
She waited under the bridge, tied to a post, as cars thundered by—hoping someone would hear her. Hoping the person who left her there would come back. But no one did. (Watch Video Below)
@nycacc Sakura (220208) is adoptable at Queens ACC! Sakura can be found on nycacc.app or our mobile app “ACC of NYC” by searching for her name or ID number. With cherry blossom season just around the corner, there’s no better time to meet Sakura—a four-year-old girl waiting at Queens ACC. Just like the cherry blossoms she's named after, Sakura is a gentle bloom waiting for the right moment to open up. At 4 years young, this large mixed-breed lady is soft, sweet, and a little shy — she prefers to paws and take her time getting to know you. She’s not into the hustle and bark of busy life and would love a calm, quiet home where she can blossom at her own pace. Sakura’s love language? Slow walks, gentle pets (when she’s ready), and lots of space to just be her serene self. #nycacc #boroughbred #QueensACC #AdoptableDog ♬ childhood – daniel.mp3 & Zamaro
When rescuers finally found her, Sakura didn’t growl or bark. She didn’t even flinch. The 4-year-old mixed breed just looked up, confused and heartbroken, still trying to understand why the person she loved had left her behind.
Even now at the shelter, that confusion lingers. Sakura hasn’t stopped waiting—not for a walk, or a treat—but for someone who’s never coming back.
The Struggle to Forget Everything
It’s roughly 60 days since Sakura arrived at Queens Animal Care Centers (ACC). Though she badly wants to put everything behind her, she isn’t finding it easy. Sakura is quite nervous at the shelter and hesitant to trust new people from the get-go. Who can blame her, though? There’s just something about betrayal that makes one cautious of opening up so easily, and this is exactly where Sakura is at in life right now.

But the thing is, Sakura has another beautiful side to her beyond the nervousness. She has so much love and tenderness in her, and it shows up in the way she leans in for pets from those she trusts, how her tail wags gently when she spots a familiar face, and the way she looks at you with soft, hopeful eyes, as though saying, “I’m really trying to get over everything.”
Deep inside, Sakura wants to trust with her whole heart. She wants to love fully. But she has to feel safe with you first before any of this happens. We can guarantee that once Sakura begins to see you as her safe place, she will make you feel like the luckiest dog owner in the world every single day.
Please Give Sakura a Chance

Sakura is very much open to trying out this thing called “forever love.” All she asks is for your patience as she learns to trust you. She’s craving a family that won’t rush her but instead, let her open up at her own pace.
Sweet Sakura would do best in a quiet, calm home, as she’s not a fan of the fast-paced life. She enjoys taking leisurely walks and receiving gentle pets from her inner circle. Sakura needs a person who believes that sometimes, the greatest bonds are built slowly without any pressure. If you’d love to give Sakura her happy ending, learn more about her adoption process here.
