From its beautiful vistas and warm population to its gorgeous riversides, Portland, Oregon is a vacation destination that’s on many people’s “gotta go there” lists. It’s packed with plenty of history, food, and experiences that you won’t find anywhere else, and those unique features are what draw millions of people to Portland every year.
But, what if you’re traveling with your dog? After all, a family vacation isn’t complete without the fluffiest family member!
If you’re planning on visiting with your pup, then here’s the good news: there are plenty of amazing dog-friendly restaurants in Portland. You can even dine with your pups in a few restaurants! To make sure that you get the most out of your family vacation, I’ve scouted out the top eight spots to eat alongside your pooch in Portland.
1. Tin Shed Garden Cafe
1438 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR 97211
To start our list, let’s take a look at a bustling little neighborhood along one of Portland’s many main streets. Inside a rustic-looking storefront, you’ll find Tin Shed Garden Café, a delightful dining spot with a special menu for dogs. Pooches are welcome to dine under the roof of the outdoor patio, and humans can purchase their canine companions a bandanna.
For people, Tin Shed Garden Café offers a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu of classic American fare like eggs benedict, steak, and pie.
2. White Owl Social Club
1305 SE 8th Ave. & Main, Portland, OR 97214
If you’re on the prowl for something that’s closer to a casual pub, then your best bet is White Owl Social Club. The upscale interior expertly hides a fun laid-back atmosphere and heavy metal music. Once inside, diners can enjoy plenty of authentic Mexican food. Obviously, this includes tacos! If you’re not in the mood for some tortillas, however, you can snack on a fine selection of sandwiches, salads, and more.
Dogs can enjoy their own spot on the outdoor patio, which has its own special doggy entrance. This way, you don’t have to worry about finding a place for your pup to wait while you go inside. Diners love the chilled-out atmosphere, and people are raving about the covered patio.
3. ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria
4635 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, OR 97215
Fans of Mexican food will adore Portland because this city is packed with spice! If you want a more family-friendly and generalized atmosphere, then ¿Por Qué No? Taqueria is your spot. Here, you can grab a quick bite to go or dine with your pooch under the quaint covered patio. In addition to tacos, you’ll find salads, nachos, wings, and drinks.
Open for lunch and dinner, this dive is popular with locals and tourists, but its space is limited! There aren’t many pup-friendly tables, so arrive early if you’re hoping for a spot. There’s a small parking lot, though, so driving to this location isn’t out of the question.
4. Lucky Labrador Beer Hall
1945 NW Quimby, Portland, OR 97255
Pizza, salad, subs, and trucks. What’s not to love about that combo!?
Lucky Labrador Beer Hall is a classy but eccentric hangout spot inside of an old garage. The interior has been wholly revived as a gorgeous dining space, but the exterior remains the same. Keep your eyes peeled if you’re planning to hit up this location because it’s easy to miss!
Dogs are welcome to dine on the outdoor patio, where they’ll be provided with clean water. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to leave your pup outside to order; there’s no outdoor ordering option. You’ll also want to consider walking, as parking is limited in this semi-residential spot.
5. The Rambler
4205 N Mississippi Ave., Portland, OR 97217
(503) 459 4049
Just off of the thoroughfare of North Mississippi Avenue, there’s a hole-in-the-wall restaurant hidden in an otherwise unremarkable craftsman’s home. This is The Rambler, and it’s serving up tacos, Americana, and drinks! Locals love this little dog friendly restaurant Portland
If you’re bringing your pooch, you’ll be welcomed onto either the front or back patio. Worry not, though, because The Rambler’s extensive remodeling outfitted both of these spaces with fans and awnings. You’ll be comfortable at any time of the year, but you’ll need to do some work to find parking if you opt to drive.
6. Island Cafe
250 NE Tomahawk Island Dr., Portland, OR 97217
(503) 283 0362
They say that a restaurant’s quality is proportional to the number of diners it has at any given time. If that’s true, — and it is! — then Island Café must be one of the best casual dining spots in Portland. This is a good, filling spot to grab something to eat, and they’re open for lunch and dinner. Island Café specializes in tacos and burgers, but you can also enjoy a salad and some drinks.
Dogs are invited to dine outside, and reviewers love the waterfront view. Because this dining spot is on the water, you won’t find much parking. You can, however, leave your car at the nearby marina and walk the rest of the way.
7. Victoria Bar
4835 N Albina Ave., Portland, OR 97217
(503) 360 7760
Feeling fancy? Head over to Victoria Bar, an upscale (mostly) vegan eatery with a humongous outdoor patio for their four-legged patrons. Founded on the dream of a truly safe space for everyone, Victoria Bar is an accepting dining experience for everyone.
In addition to its specialty mixed drinks, this spot offers plenty of classics on its brunch menu. For lunch and dinner, you can choose from a massive selection of sandwiches, pasta, and more!
8. Radio Room
1101 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR 97211
(503) 287 2346
Finally, there’s the Radio Room. This historic spot is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they’re always serving up a mix of classic Americana and modern vegan-friendly meals. This is a unique spot, and it’s beloved by locals and tourists alike.
However, there are only five dog-friendly outdoor tables. If you plan on dining here, be sure to arrive early!
No matter where you go, there’s sure to be a spot to dine alongside your pup! If you’re looking for even more spots, then keep an eye on my blog!
